In case you missed it: the Dugan Smith Story!

  1. Stephanie,

I had never heard of rotationplasty, but I can totally understand taking such extreme measures to try to preserve my ability to pursue my biggest passion…sports. Dugan was no doubt a role model for “mental toughness” to undergo the surgery and treatments not knowing if he would ever be capable of playing baseball again. I will think of him when the aches and pains of football training and the long hours start to affect me. He truly is an inspiration for all of us as we face and work to overcome life’s challenges.

  3. Stephanie,

After listening to your presentation in class today I couldn't believe the video of Dugan you showed so I wanted to watch the rest of it. What an amazing story. It shows the desire that an athlete can have. For a young kid to go through something like that is unbelievable. My favorite part was when they said what went through your mind when they offered him the options and he said I wondered if I could play baseball again. It just showed the passion that Dugan had for baseball and it is a very eye opening and moving story.
